Hizbullah tests spy drone over Israel

The leader of Lebanese Islamic Resistance, Hizbullah, Sheikh Hasan Nasrallah in a televised speech yesterday claimed that the unarmed drone Israeli airforce shot-down belonged to Hizbullah and was on flight to test Israel’s American supplied anti-missile detection system.

Nasrallah also claimed that the drone was based on Iranian drone technology and it was assembled locally by Hizbullah experts. He also claimed that this would not be the last surveillance drone flight over the Jewish occupied Palestine.

Israeli daily Arutz Sheva reported on October 8 that as the result of the drone’s 30-minute’s flight over Israel without being detected – a new US-supplied Patriot anti-missile battery has been installed in the north, atop Mt. Carmel near Haifa to intercept future drone reaching Israel’s nuclear facility at Dimona. Israeli officials have been concerned for some time that the facility could be vulnerable to an attack from Hizbullah.

According to the daily, Israeli military fears that the drone could have transmitted photographs of Israeli military installations in the northern Negev Desert.

In his speech broadcast over Al-Manar TV, Sayyed Nasrallah said: “The resistance in Lebanon sent an advanced surveillance drone from the Lebanese lands towards the sea. It drove it for hundreds of kilometers over the sea, then penetrated the enemy’s new measures, entered south Palestine, and flew over several significant locations, before being spotted by the Israeli air force”.
