The 2009 Urdu (Hindi) movie Kurbaan (sacrify) is sort of try to refute western distortion of word ‘Jihad (Resistance)’ with terrorism. The western politicians and mainstream media is in the habit of equating Natives’ resistance against the “state terrorism” committed by the colonial powers in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Chechnya, Philippines, Lebanon, etc.
The movie revolves around the story of a US-Indian lecturer Avantika (part played by Kareena Kapoor) at a university in New Delhi. She was a lecturer in New York but returned to India as the result of her father’s heart attack.
In New Delhi she meets a temporary professor Ehsan Khan (part played by Saif Ali Khan). Both fell in love. Avantika is recalled by her New York University. Ehsan wants to accompany her to the US, but for him to get immigration to the US, she had to marry him.
Soon they get marred and leave for New York. They buy a house in an Indian neighborhood in New York.
Ehsan Khan and one of his student refute the western stereotype image of Islam and Muslims such as the Israeli 9-11 False Flag operation, for which Muslims are blamed. (see two trailers at the end of this post).
